Long ago, in a time of great prosperity, the wolves and horses of the land formed a pact together. The wolves agreed never to hunt the wolves, as long as the horses did not graze on their hunting grounds, so their own prey would not go hungry. For many years, this pact held firm. But then one year, a drought took hold of the land, diminishing resources for all. In desperation, the wolves began to hunt the horses again. And the horses, unable to find enough food on their own lands, began to graze on the wolves' territories. Despite the elder wolves and horses calling for this to stop, to remember the pact their ancestors vowed to keep, this went on until the rains returned to the following year. Now things are peaceful once more, and the pact has been renewed, but the two sides are uneasy. How long will it be before the pact is broken once again? We Are Not Alone
