Amber snickered. "Would'ya lookit that there girls? A rat trying to become a wolf! Ha!" The surrounding group of dogs laughed, as if on command. "I mean, really! Idiots 1 and 2 just got an idiot 3!" Giggles ran through the group.

Inky's head jerked up. "I'm not a rat!" she barked defensively; although the taunt was a common one for those that wanted to offend her, it stung every time. "And what're you, a--a--a hairball one of those new cats spit up?" She sneered. "You sure look like one, with so much fur."
((-spins around- "'I'd sooner kiss a pig,' Alanna retorted. 'Maybe that's what you've been doing--kissing pigs?'" -hath just reread the Alanna books by Tamora Pierce- I love it when she sharpens her tongue like that. I wanna have Inky act like that sometimes--well, not like that, but you know what I mean. Word sparring. xD))

((xDD I have all of the books somewhere in my brother's room. My mom took all of my chapter books and stuffed them into his room. Poor little things, squished in between "learn your A-B-C's!))
A growl escaped Kur's throat and his hackles rose. "I'll rip you to shreds," He howled at Amber, sightless yellow eye still blazing with fury. It was narrowed to a mere slit, as it had been for years, and the other soon followed. The darkness surrounded him as he took in less and less light until he saw nothing but darkness and faint outlines of the streetlights. His next move happened in a blur. He leapt at Amber, snarl revealing razor-sharp whites. Sounds pounded his ears which were up straight; tail stuck up fearlessly as he made an attempt to tackle the female to the ground. Jaws aimed to sink into her shoulder, and his eyes were ablaze.
((Someone got Kur on his bad side...)) [/sup]

Amber leapt aside, the band of dogs scattering, leaving her to protect herself. A blow to her side though, left her winded for a second. "DON'T touch my fur!" She snapped. Wits taking action , she made no attempt to counter the attack. "Come and get me big bad wolfy!" Amber stood, ready.

"Inky!!" Rommel wailed from his perch in an alley a while off. Inky hadn't come. But then a jealous thought wafted through his mind. Inky hadn't forgotten, /she/ would've prefered to be with Kuramoon, the /big bad wolfy./ The young pup snarled at the wall, jealous of Kuramoon, how he'd turned Inky against him. Well, the pup would just have to impress her more than that Kuramoon could. But the question was, how?

Of course, it was only sensible that Inky had forgotten her friend for the moment--and only halfway because of Kuramoon. "But you do look like a hairball," insisted the black pup, the malice glittering in her dark eyes the only sign she wasn't entirely innocent of anything but stating the facts--or what she saw to be the facts. Like any young alley mongrel, Inky had learned well how to put up a pitiful face. "It's not my fault you do, quit yelling!" Only her usual annoying enjoyment of prying kept her from backing far, far away at the death in her newest friend's eyes, however.
Wolves were scary, she decided. But annoying prissy good-for-nothing Walker pets was more than worth the risk.

Amber shot an icy glare in Inky's direction, but didn't reply, trying to decifer Kuramoon's next attack. 'Shave your tail, and you'll really look like rat!' She thought, sniggering.

"The idiot pup wants to fight me, oh, I'm scared." Growled the male, eyes narrowed. Lips raised to reveal razors as he snarled and growled at the Walker pet. "Puppy, you wouldn't survive out in the real world. You won't have your man to feed you, no flames to keep you warm, no food for them to feed you with." He grunted matter-of-factly, before raising his head. Once again the melodious tone entered the sky and echoed in the dark. Birds flew from their posts on streetlights and in the park trees, and a few Walkers turned to see him. A few mumbled exitedly, as if realizing it was a dog fight. "If you're so perfect, why not attack me? Not countering is a sign of weakness. Of course, you and your man would be killed by us after the first day. We eat what we can, then leave the rest for the scavenging birds, you know?" His tail twitched. No way this stupid puppy would talk back to that. He was too advanced for her; the poor puppy would probably be shaking, her tail low and under her. He laughed mentally. All man and their lappuppies were the same.

Anger burned in her stomach, although the howl had sent a shiver through her spine. Restraining herself from recklessly throwing herself at Kuramoon, she stood her ground. "Oh go boil your fat head! I'd survive! I'll admit that I wouldn't like it one bit at all, but what makes you think that I'm too soft for the city life, hm? I don't see the point in living the hard way, when all you have to do is look starved and put on a cute face in front of a Walker's house. They'd give you a home like that!" She stamped down her paw. "But just to prove it to you, Mr. I'm-so-great-cuz-I-can-live-in-the-wild, I'll do it! Name how long, I can take it!"
Amber snapped hotheadedly, already pumped and ready, tail raised in defiance. 'Stupid wolf, thinks he's SO great, the show off! Probably trying to impress Inky, though why anyone would want to try to impress a throw rug, I'll never know. How hard could it be, living in the wild? Humph!' She thought to herself.

((I like facing hard-headed characters xDD))
Kuramoon scoffed. "I'd like to see that," He grunted, tail raised. "Let's see if you could last a full moon out there," Added the male, tail pointing to the woods on the edge of town. "Man've invaded. That was what pushed our pack out. I was left behind, so here I am, facing an idiot puppy."

Amber tossed her head up. "Fine!" She stalked off, still angry. 'Good job, you got yourself in a fix Amber!' The voice growled in her head over and over. But she didn't care, she'd prove to everyone she wasn't some soft puppy!
