[glow=red,2,300]Hauntedstar's penetrating gaze swept around the littered camp. Twoleg rubbish sat in a stinking pile near the outside of the alleyway. Mucky rain puddles could be seen here and there, along with a few small oil spills. But the most noticeable thing were the tiny black eyes peering from nooks and holes in the walls, ground, even in the dumpster. Rats.
They were the clan's main food. A mouse was hardly ever seen in the buzzing city. And if you were luck enough to find one, it was usually crow food.
Hauntedstar strode over to a puddle and lapped up the muddled water. Giving ragged pelt a shake, the tom slowly rose and shoved a paw into a crack in the alley wall. Claws struck a furry body, and out was lifted a nice plump rat.
Hauntedstar tossed it into the air and caught it between jowls, bones splintering. Swiping tongue around muzzle, he stuck his paw in the crack again for another rat.[/glow]

[glow=red,2,300]Hauntedstar lay in a corner of the alley, the slow drizzle of rain wetting his fur. He disliked greatly the fact that the forest cats had moved into the city. The tom took forest cats as softies, too afraid to cross the Thunderpath, afraid to get their paws wet in a little water, or too picky to eat rats. "What do they think? Life isn't easy, deal with it!" He growled to himself[/glow]

The drizzle hung to Fyre's jet black fur, causing it to almost sparkle under the dim lights of the city. She walked quickly untill she reached her home, were she slowed down so that she could carefull step over the trash, she didnt liek to get her fur dirty if she could help it. Least of all her taile, she couldnt stand to get that dirty, so as she walked she made sure to keep it well off the ground. Her bright yellow eyes moved over the garbage that the two legs left behind, sometimes she found things of intrest hidden away with the rubish. It oftern shocked her seeing how wasteful twolegs could be, she had once found an almost untouched chickin leg left out with the trash, you oftern came across things like this if you looked hard enough. A few days back she had found half a fillit of white fish but seen as a large stray dog had come up behind her wile she had her head in a trashcan she had been forsed to make a quick escape, dropping the fish back were she found it. When she had later returned she had found that the fillit of fish was gone. She had spent the better part of the day watching a twoleg playing with a kittypet and a rabbit, she found it quite strange that another cat would shair its home with a rabbit. Later she had found that the rabbit lived in a hutch outside the house, she couldnt help but wonder if there was a way she could somehow get at it.

Hauntedstar shook his fur, scattering droplets of water everywhere. He spotted Fyre and gave a curt nod of acknowledgment. Mind reeled as Hauntedstar tried to think of things that needed to be done. Finally he decided on something, beckoning Darkfyre toward him. "Do a quick patrol of our borders. I don't want those forest cats moving in. If you find anything suspicious," he meowed gruffly, "report it to me immediately!" Hauntedstar then padded away, the thoughts of clan cats invading irking his mind. He snorted, muttering to himself as he paced the clearing, ear flicking once and awhile to try and rid of a particularly annoying flea.

Fyre listened to Hauntedstars instructions then gave a quick nod before darting off the way she had come, a quick jump up onto a wall then she was gone. Unlike Hauntedstar, Fyre had very few worrys about the newcomers to the city, as far as she saw it they would not last. To suvive in a city you really needed to have grown up in the city, know how things worked. She was probably underestimating the forest cats but that was the way she thought it was. Still she began her serch of the boarders, looking out for any cat she didnt know. If there were any cats about she would find them, but she knew tey most probably wouldnt see her, she was jet black for one and knew all the best places to walk so that she was almost always under the shadow of some building or other. She started her patrol down on ground level then after finding nothing out of the ordenery she worked her way up, roofs of low buildings and walls.

A slip of darkness, Nightstep padded after the she-cat, his grey pelt blending well with the high buildings around him. Speeding just a bit to catch up, he inquired coolly, "Might I join you? I've naught else to do at the moment." His tail flicked lazily as he relaxed much weight onto his haunches, waiting for a reply, and instinctively took up the dangerous pose that would mark him for the rogue he was--the careless, smooth posture that said, clear as daylight to anyone looking at him, I don't have to worry. I know where I am and what I'm doing, and have no stupid rules to harness me.
If he had known he stood in such a way, eyes narrowed almost casually, Nightstep would hve been disgusted with himself. This was a fellow rogue he was speaking to--here, at least, he would not have to prove who he was!
But it was instinct. And when you were a rogue, even in a rogue Clan, you could trust no one.

Fyre turned in his direction, licking her nose quicly before nodding her head.
"Hauntedstar seems worryed of the newcomers"
She meowd quietly, agen her bright yellow eyes scanning the aria. The only thing that really botherd her was the idea of shairing pray, there wasnt enough about for other cats, it was theres. She hardly took notice of his stance, most cats, wether they be in her clan or not, seemed to act this way to her. You had to be that way in this city, look harder then you actualy were. After a few more moments of watching him she turned agen to walk allong the wall.

Nightstep nodded, falling into step with the other cat, yawning to bare his wicked teeth--inherited from both his parents, no doubt. "I don't really see why," he answered casually, though his ears flicked for any sign of movement as he whipped his tail out for balance along the road which only cats walked. "They're as soft as anycat here, but thinner, going by what the others tell me." He eyed Fyre curiously as he said so--many of the cats had been born here, but onecat never asked another where they came from. It was the sole most important, if unspoken rule, to many, he would imagine--he had seen a cat or two who would rip somecat apart for asking. But still, indirectly, this might give him some clue as to who this companion exactly was.

Fyre nodded, her thoughts exactly, she paused for a moment to lick at a few hairs on her chest.
"They wont last, the ones that the ral citycats, monsters or dogs dont take care of will soon disapear on there own"
Content with her chest hair now she continued to walk, her eyes moving over everything. A rat ran out from under a upturned trashcan but that was the only movment she saw. She hopped up onto the edge of a low roof to check over the allyway she had jsut walked down from above, she doubted very much she would see anything of intrest, but just in case.

Nightstep followed after, then slightly away, springing from the can which Fyre had spotted the rat on to a fence, rather lower than the wall he and his patrol companion had been on. Just to show off a little and feel the muscles move smoothly under his well-groomed pelt, he ran along the fence for a moment before leaping high upon a roof next to Fyre's. Listening and watching, he could hear the rough barks of a dog fight a way off, and clearly scent that some of the new cats had made their homes along the Clan border--afraid to cross it, though, he thought smugly.
"I don't see what Hauntedstar's so worried about," the tom repeated finally. "They're nipping at the edges, here, but if we gather a larger patrol or two, the kitties'll back off." He used the semi-insulting name with a sneer in the direction of one of the closest Clan-cat scents, a large grouping somewhere near the suburbs, with both fresh and somewhat stale scents.

Fyre purred a little at that thought, chase them away before they got too settled in, yes that did sound good. A thought she didnt like though was the one that the close by clan of newcomers would eventualy spred out, explore, come into there teritory, that annoyed her. She looked agen to Nightstep and nodded, they should do that sooner rather then later, before the forest cats got to close.
"I dont think we are going to find much more then sents tonight, there not brave enough to coem close...yet"
With that she turned her head back in the direction of her home, not really sure about going back just yet.

Nightstep nodded with satisfaction, bounding after Fyre. He didn't really care where she might be going, but it would be more interesting than sitting in camp and watching his brother...The young tom's face darkened at the thought of the apprentice.

Hauntedstar wasn't really worried about prey, the clan cats probably ate garbage, or crowfood here, he was mostly worried that if the clans worked together as one, they would be evenly matched with BloodlustClan. 'Sure they'd be defeated,' He thought to himself, 'but what of the death toll? It would be a very large price.' Hauntedstar shook his head. 'We've been living in the city for many generations, of course we'll be fine. We'll crush those forest softies with a firm paw!" His mood swiftly changing from worried and anxious, to happy and excited, mind already making up plans to ambush the clans.

Fyre walked allong then jumped down onto the roof of a still monster then jumped agen back down onto ground level. She wasnt sure were she was going really, she wasnt really in a hurry to get back to camp but then agen if something needed doing then maybe she should get back. She looked over at NightStep
"Should we return to the camp now...?
She was actualy quite cureus about the new cats but there was no point going looking for trubble.

"I suppose so," Nightstep answered with a shrug and a sigh, "unless you've got a better idea." He was sick of seeing that Cherrypaw, but all the food they could want was home...
