Mistpaw rolled off breathing hard "hey no fair I couldnt hang on cause I cant use my claws" she said with a little smile. She shook her pelt and looked at her mentor wondering if they should continue.

Darknessstar gave a slight purr, pausing to catch her breath back. "You should have jumped off when you realized I was going to knock you off one way or another--I know that the no claws rule is an inconvenience, but it makes things much easier when it comes to a real fight." Growing grave for a moment, she warned, "Keep in mind that when you do use teeth and claws, you're much, much more dangerous, and hold back a little. Never kill another cat, just as the warrior code says--there's times cats won't understand that it was an accident." She sat down, indicating that they were taking a break, at least for the moment, and, flicking her tail for Mistpaw to come sit next to her, that their session was not yet over.
"Now, tell me. What do you think you did well, and what should you have done better?"

She went over to sit next to darknessstar, she sighed and looked up at the sky. "Well I dont think I did anything well really, I think I need to be faster, quicker reflexes and try to hide what I am thinking better" she mewed carefully hopeing that that was what darknessstar had ment.

"You're doing well, for a newer apprentice," Darknessstar assured her. "I do agree that you need to try and make your false move--your feint--more obvious, and your true, hidden one...well, hidden. But until you tried to pin me, you used your size and speed to your advantage, which is a good thing. Just--knock over a larger cat, trick them, don't try to use force." She repeated, "That was good, though--how many sessions have we had now? Not many, I'm sure." She had been busy lately, keeping the Clan together and trying to hunt; until now, when things were calming a bit, she hadn't often had the chance to train.

Her ears perked at hearing what darknessstar had said "really you thought it was good?" she asked turning to face her. She shook her head "no we havnt had very many practices, but I totally understand" she said flicking her tail gently.

((Of course you are! I WANT everyone to!))
"For your age, it was good," Darknessstar corrected gently. "You'll be a good warrior when you're older, if you keep practicing. Would you like to try again, or are you too tired?" She understood that the lack of food would put a strain on everyone else's strengths and tempers--it certainly was hers.

Darknessstar purred, mewing, "That's the spirit," and settled into a comfortable crouch, tail tip flicking as she waited for her apprentice to move.
If she didn't, the black leader would test her patience a little before attacking.

Mistpaw croutched down bunching up her muscles to spring, she jumped in the air a little but quickly landed and went straight at her mentor attempting to tackle her.

Darknessstar stood firm, easily shaking her apprentice away. "Remember what I told you!" she yowled, before launching her first real attack this session--returning Mistpaw's "favor," she rammed straight at the other she-cat, shoulder intended to connect with the other cat's chest hard, and bowl her over.

"Mrrow" she yowled a little surprised as she was hit in the chest. She got knocked off her feet and flung a couple of tail lengths away. She quickly got to her feet and attempted to ram darknessstar back just has hard, she tried not to give her mentor enough time.

Darknessstar, surprised by the quick recovery, actually staggered back a few steps before regaining some balance, and leaping away. She used Mistpaw's own trick, now, to see how the apprentice would react: feinting to the left, then at the last second shifting to the right, to leap right on top of the tabby's back. If she was lucky, the other cat would remember the trick Darknessstar had used earlier, and escape--otherwise, however, the black she-cat was confident that this spar would soon be over.

Mistpaw quickly rolled on her back, her belly up. She prepared herself to kick darknessstar off as soon as she felt her weight. She bunched up her muscles and gathered all her strength into pushing her mentor, it would take alot considering how large her mentor was comparred to her.

By the time Darknessstar realized what the apprentice was doing, it was too late to switch--she landed directly on top of Mistpaw. However, she quickly snapped her paws out to either side, so that she was standing over the apprentice rather than on her, her paws clinging to the rough pavement as she prepared to be lifted.

Mistpaw pushed out with all her might trying to get darknessstar off her. She growled a little at how heavy darknessstar was. She pushed darknessstar as hard as she could off her and quickly sprung away. She turned around quickly watching to see what happend.
