Darknessstar's body gave a little jerk, and she awoke from her light slumber, shaking her head. Another nightmare.
Well, it wouldn't do for the rest of the Clan to see. Hurriedly the longhaired she-cat tried to steady her breathing and flatten her fur. Soon enough she had lain her head back on her paws guiltily, looking about the dirty, rubbish-strewn industry with distaste.
She ought to go hunting...And hunt what? the black leader thought disgustedly. Those creatures which had made their home in the old factory had long since fled upon the arrival of a rather large band of cats, and already, the lightly biting weather had chased away the few choices in prey the cats might have had. If it weren't for those stupid furballs, with their mousebrained threats and ideas this would be better, we'd still be home, Darknessstar thought sullenly, forcing her claws back in as they dug at the dirt in an unusual display of temper. She knew that wasn't fair, really. Bu now, any prey back home would have been chased off, as well...oh, she'd flay those Twolegs someday.
But she couldn't really do anything, and that rankled her more than any other problems put together. Darknessstar hated being helpless.

(alright) Mistpaw was curled up in the box, her dark gray fur barely visible beneath the flaps. She yawned and stretched out, it was cramed in here but it was warm. She rolled over and looked out of a tiny hole in the side and saw a mouse scurry across the floor. She walked quietly out of the box, her ears were perked, her tail low, and her stomach barely touching the ground. She carefully creeped up to the mouse waiting to spring on it.

Darknessstar's head lifted as one apprentice began to pad off, and she watched with silent approval, rather proud of the young she-cat. Patiently she waited for her apprentice to make the kill--she hoped the she-cat could; they'd need all the prey they could catch.

She got a few tail-lengths behind the mouse, barely breathing she watched the mouse clean its tiny ears. She sprang and bit it hard around the neck, it didnt even wriggle or squirm for it had been killed instantly. She smiled to herself and picked it up carrying it over to darknessstar. She sat down and droped the mouse at her paws "I um caught this" she said looking down at the mouse "do you want me too put it in the pile or do you want it?" she asked looking at her.

"Put it in the pile," answered Darknessstar. "I've had my fill today." Admittedly, she was hungry--who wasn't?--but had eaten nearly as much as any other cat, that day. She purred lightly. "That was very good, especially as we haven't had so much opportunity to practice, in this..." She looked about her shaking her head. It was no secret that the leader hadn't thought moving a good idea. "This place.
"Speaking of which, this would be a good time to train a bit, just until the sun goes down. We can spar, out in the Thunderpath, even if there isn't much to hunt."

Mistpaw nodded with a smile "thank you darknessstar" she said. She looked around the building "there isnt much to eat out here is there?" she asked already knowing the answer to her question.

"Practically nothing," sighed Darknessstar in reply, not bothering to hide the truth, or even make it sound better with fancy edges and such. They had the right to know. "Everything's run, by now, except for rats--and you know the rule." Rats were poisonous to them, from eating in Twoleg crowfood-heaps; only BloodlustClan cats could seem to manage them.
"Anyway. Enough depressing talk." Forcing a smile, the black she-cat stepped delicately past glass shards, fallen from a window not far above, and slipped through a hole in the boarded-up door. Her fur fluffing slightly as a chilly breeze hit her, she checked to make sure not too many Twolegs were by, then waited for her apprentice to follow.
"Same as usual, Mistpaw--attack me, and we'll see how it goes."
((All right...-scurries to take care of some things herself while waiting-
((Oh. Shove me if I call her Mistypaw. There's a Mistystar in a guild I know, so it's practically reflex to type "misty".))

(That happens to me sometimes also XD)
Mistpaw hurried off to drop the mouse in the fresh-kill-pile. She paused looking at the small amount, her heart sank as she saw how little her clan had to eat.
Mistpaw turned around and followed darknessstar out the door and looked around also. She sighed wishing her clan could live somewher else.
She looked at darknessstar and bunched up her muscles so she could spring at her, she shifted left but sprung right and headed right for her mentors back.

Darknessstar had been preparing to dodge to the right; as her apprentice came from that direction, she quickly flattened herself to the ground, shooting out from under Mistpaw as the apprentice flew on top of her, her tail just barely whisking from the she-cat's claws in time. Darknessstar whirled around, one paw raised as if to rake at Mistpaw's face, though for the practice her claws were in, of course.

Mistpaw landed on the ground surprised, she whipped around to face darkness star. She didnt think that she would attack so suddenly so she wasnt expecting the paw to face thing. She felt Darknessstars paw it her on the side of the cheek, she rolled over and sprang up, claws shealthed, and landed behind her mentor prepareing to pin her down.

Darknessstar whirled, hardly fast enough, though. Already her battle-trained mind was moving rapidly, more quickly than her body ever could--the apprentice was smaller and lighter than she, so it would be easy to throw her off, but she'd lost the advantage of movement and wouldn't get it back unless she forced Mistpaw to pause for a moment. A plan forming, she continued moving, as if in slow motion when compared to her thoughts.

Mistpaw sprung at her attempting to pin darknessstar down. She knew she was light and wouldnt really be a match for her mentor but she had to try atleast.

As soon as she felt Mistpaw's weight on her back, the leader began shaking hard to dislodge her, letting out a slight grunt from the force, although the weight couldn't be much more than half her own. When the found the apprentice's grasp loosening, just a little, the dark she-cat dropped into a roll, efficient to knock a cat off and disorient them a bit--even knock them out, if she were to really try; not at the moment, of course.
